WANTED - Section Editors for Eco Magazine
Sustainable Living Magazine is being launched in October 2008. We are looking for section editors with a background in writing, photography and photojournalism from across the country. This is a great opportunity for creative communicators to gain extensive, hands-on experience with a non-profit publication. You would be working with a dedicated team that is focused on creating a sustainable and healthy culture. Sustainable Living Magazine is dedicated to facilitating a sustainable and healthy future for us all. In each section we intend to inform, empower and engage our readers in our collective journey toward an ecologically balanced and healthy society.We will explore the creation of a green culture and a healthy society that will facilitate a truly sustainable future. Our sections focus on Sustainable Living, Community Spirit, Healthy Homes and Eco Gardens, Natural Health, Good Food, Eco Kids, Style and Arts, the Outdoors, Social Consciousness, and the Products, Services, Economics and Activities of Green Living.
After your orientation, you can work from a home office part time or full time. Editing positions at SLM are initially volunteer positions, however all our staff are also acknowledged with educational opportunities and other benefits.
As a part of this position you will:
* Work directly with the managing editor with the responsibility of editing and/or creating written and/or visual content related to various aspects of the sections editorial objectives.
* Online editorial research and content development* Planning assignment logistics and provide field intelligence to the managing editor
* Participate in field research, news gathering, interviews and/or photography
* Cross checking facts and story details before submission
* Electronically filing your stories and photos to the editor in a timely manner
The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills and a proficiency in office software and photo editing applications. You must be independent and positive and have the ability to work as part of a team and also with minimal supervision.
